13:00-13:30Industry Content Standardization: Applying the IOHN Approach to Harmonization Across Domains by Johan W. Klüwer, Det Norske Veritas.

The IOHN project has worked on establishing methods and tools that make it easier for domain experts to contribute to the development and extension of ISO 15926 also known as the Oil and Gas Ontology. These tools and methods were primarly developed and used for the project internal work on the extensions required for the pilots in the drilling and production domains, but through POSC Caesar Association, these data standardization tools were also made available to other projects, with the big advantage of a harmonized development of the common ontology and the mutual benefit of being able to reuse and extend on already developed material. This opens for interesting possibilities for data integration accross domains and disciplines.

Johan Wilhelm Klüwer (Dr. philos.), of DNV Information Risk Management, is a specialist in applied modal logic. In recent years, he has been involved in ontology development projects in a variety of disciplines, with special focus on ISO 15926.
13:30-14:00Camelot project: Mutual benefits from sharing between projects by Robin Benjamins, Bechtel.

The Camelot project was a collaboration project with 14 participants and with a mission to create a set of open source software tools that implemented the full specification of ISO 15926 and deliver them to the industry for usage. The resulting concepts, specifications, software, and documentation are known as iRING. The Camelot project made use of the tools and methodologies developed through the IOHN project and developed further on these. In return it contributed its developments back to IOHN and the industry at large.

Robin Benjamins is Bechtel's Corporate Engineering Automation Manager with proven expertise managing the engineering application portfolio, interoperability, and data integration solutions. In his role, Benjamins is responsible for developing and implementing strategy for Bechtel's "Central Engineering and Technology" and "Information, Systems, and Technology" organizations. In addition to this role, Benjamins is a member of the POSC Caesar Association Board. Benjamins is an accomplished technologist, with 33 years of experience in the EPC industry, including 16 years providing technology solutions to internal and external customers. Over his career, he has established the valuable dual expertise of business processes combined with technological acumen. He led the effort to create Bechtel's standard, global interoperability solution that is now used worldwide. This system also incorporates the methodologies of the ISO15926 Standard. Benjamins is now leading the industry on the adoption of iRING as the de facto implementation strategy for ISO 15926.
14:00-14:30Interoperability in practice: background for the sand management use case demonstration by Øivind Johnsen and Udo Pletat, IBM and Knut Hovda, ABB.

Sand management is one of the IOHN use cases defined in the Production domain. The demonstrator shows interoperability between an owner operator and a sand management expert center based on a common standard. This presentation gives an introduction to the demonstrator that will follow, and will go in into the scenario and the technical background.

Knut Hovda is Team Manager for the Software Development section in the Integrated Operations department within ABB Oil, Gas & Petrochemials. He has an M. Sc in Informatics from the University of Oslo in 1994, and has previous been with Scandpower Petroleum Technology and Production Technology Integrated. He has held various positions related to software development of technical applications for the Oil & Gas industry, and is also an SPE member
Dr. Udo Pletat has received the master in computer science from the University of Dortmund and his Ph. D. from the University of Stuttgart in 1980 and 1984, respectively. He joined IBM in 1986 as a member of IBM Germany's Scientific Center and has been an active researcher in the area of logic-based knowledge representation languages and reasoning systems. Since 1992 Dr. Pletat has held various technical architect positions in areas like expert systems product development, development tools for automotive embedded systems, and for IBM internal SAP implementations. Since 2004 he is a member of the IBM industry framework community, leading the tooling group for IBM Manufacturing Integration Framework and has contributed to IBM's Integrated Information Framework since 2008. Udo Pletat has been IBM's representative in the Semantic Model work stream of the Integrated Operations in the High North project, and has worked in particular on the alignment of IBM's Reference Semantic Model and the ISO 15926 standard. Current interests include semantic information modeling, complex event processing and the integration of service-oriented and event-driven architecture principles.
14:30-15:00Sand management demonstration and coffee break
15:00-15:30An open Drilling Control Communication Standard developed for the IOHN drilling pilot by Robert Ewald, National Oilwell Varco.

The drilling and completion pilot focuses on seamless interoperability through open standards at the drilling control level. There is currently a challenge in automatically and safely integrating the contributors to a drilling operation. Improvements will come from systems that automatically combine knowledge from several drilling contributors and intervene with the drilling control system directly. An open Drilling Control Communication Standard is a crucial part in achieving this goal that will lead to a better safeguarding of operational limits, less unproductive time and, in the end, better and more efficient well placement.

Robert Ewald is Senior Systems Engineer in the Global Systems Engineering Department of National Oilwell Varco and responsible for system interoperability.
15:30-16:00Statoil's Real-Time Visualization (RTV) solution: a consumer of semantic data models - Requirements and expected benefits by Bjørn Rugland, Statoil.

The Real-Time Visualisation (RTV) solution will enable to monitor all of Statoil’s wells and production facilities on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, including 35 off-shore assets in a unified desktop. The solution will be build on top of an integration platform, allowing a standardized access to underlying data and information sources, and will allow production engineers to access and use all relevant data in a standardized way. The project will be a consumer of IOHN developed data models.

Bjørn Rugland is project manager for the RTV-project in Statoil.
